Loss of Range of Motion
Difficulty or pain when bending, twisting, or reaching.
Spine injuries can range from acute incidents to chronic conditions, significantly impacting a person’s quality of life. Some patients live with lower back pain for years before finding relief.
At Seattle Rehab Specialists, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive care for a variety of spine injuries, helping patients regain function and return to their daily activities pain-free.
At our rehab center, we commonly treat:
These occur when the discs in the lower back are damaged, leading to pain, nerve irritation, and potential mobility issues.
Often resulting from sports or work-related activities, these injuries involve overstretched or torn muscles in the back.
This is the most frequent type of back pain we treat, usually related to poor posture, overuse, and deconditioning rather than a specific injury event.
Symptoms of spine injuries can vary but commonly include:
We perform a full examination and collect a detailed history to understand the injury and its root cause. During the evaluation process we will assess a patient’s range of motion and biomechanics strength level of supporting muscles, and functional limitations.
Then, we can accurately diagnose the injury and tailor a personalized treatment plan.
We offer a range of treatment options, customized to each patient’s specific needs based on their evaluation:
Techniques to reduce muscle spasms, improve muscle function, and alleviate pain.
For patients who are active but lack strength, we focus on building stability.
For patients who are stiff and lack mobility, we incorporate exercises that improve flexibility and range of motion.
We provide personalized exercises to continue at home, enhancing the patient’s progress between sessions.
We collaborate closely with a network of local primary care physicians, orthopedic specialists, and spinal surgeons. Our goal is to get the patient the most appropriate level of care, whether conservative management through physical therapy or further evaluation from a specialist.
Recovery from spine injuries is not just physical—it’s also psychological. We understand the fear of re-injury and the impact of chronic pain on mental health. Our 60-minute sessions allow us to build strong relationships with our patients, addressing their concerns, and providing reassurance throughout the recovery process. We take a collaborative, team-based approach to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
One of our patients, “Adam,” suffered a back injury while weightlifting, resulting in severe pain, sciatica, and leg weakness. Prolonged sitting, especially when working from home, exacerbated his symptoms. Through a progressive mobility and strengthening program at Seattle Rehab Specialists, Adam regained his ability to function without pain and returned to the gym. After eight weeks, he resumed light weightlifting and began a regular walking program to maintain a resilient spine.
