Common Sports Injuries Treated in Seattle, WA

Whether you are a trained athlete or weekend warrior, sports injuries, happen every day and require professional attention for a fast and lasting recovery. Most athletes have experienced straining a muscle or spraining a joint, and many are tempted to keep playing and push through the pain and discomfort. However, if these injuries aren’t promptly addressed, the pain can intensify, the condition may worsen, and you could face an even longer break from your sport. More serious sports injuries, such as ligament, meniscus, or labral tears, can sideline you for months and may require surgery. Post-surgical physical therapy (link to Post-Surgical Condition page) is crucial in helping you recover from these injuries, guiding you back to your sport as safely and quickly as possible.

Overuse injuries are some of the most common sports injuries, including Achilles tendinitis, tennis elbow, runner’s knee, and IT band pain. Our specialists address all these injuries with targeted, transformative plans for recovery. We even help patients recover from surgery to expedite a return to normal activity.

Treatment Options for Sports Injuries

After diagnosing the issue from a thorough evaluation and review of medical history, we create a customized recovery plan. We offer a range of treatment options tailored to individual needs.

Manual therapy in the office consists of hands-on techniques to mobilize soft tissues and joints. Our therapists use dry needling by inserting sterile, filiform needles into tight muscles and tendons to stimulate a healing response. We apply kinesio taping for support and pain relief. We offer EMG biofeedback training to improve muscle function and coordination.

Blood flow restriction is an innovative technique that enhances muscle strength during low-load exercises. We also implement other exercises to improve strength and flexibility. Your treatment may include all or some of these methods to address the root cause and prevent future injury.

I came to SRS for help with exercise-induced injuries to my forearms. I had tried simply stopping exercise for a few months, but that didn’t help. At Rehab United, Kelly put me on a program of stretching, massage, and strengthening exercises. After a few months, I was back to a full exercise program and feeling great. Kelly and the rest of the staff were professional and personable, and I always enjoyed my appointments. I’m grateful for the service I received at Rehab United, and I highly recommend this business.

When I tore my Achilles last year, I was sent to physical therapy. I needed to choose somewhere close to work due to the frequency needed. I found SRS via Google and read the reviews. I scheduled my appointment and was thrilled to find Kelly, Chris and team. The environment is way more warm and comfortable than the more clinical places and the entire team was very friendly and encouraging. I was able to play softball this year because of the amazing team there.

Kelly knows when to push me, and when to hold me back from pushing too far. He always treats me like an athlete and has such a positive attitude! He is a coach as well as a physical therapist, and I know I won’t hit a plateau any time soon with his training. He has a full quiver of techniques for healing, including stretching, strengthening, cupping, point release, cardio and mental training!

As an avid skier and mountain biker I’m not easy on my body. Kelly has taught me how to take care of my body and understand what has caused my knee, back, neck and other issues I’ve had in the 6 months I’ve been going to him. I didn’t believe in PT before this but Kelly has made my daily life so much more comfortable. Would recommend RH to anyone I know! Updated for 2023 – I’m a return patient again post knee surgery. Kelly and team are great. With the new expansion and new location it’s made appointments easier to schedule and the team is great at scheduling even with those of us who can be a bit difficult!

I’m a competitive athlete and really appreciated working with Kelly. He treats me like an equal and gives me knowledge to be successful, short and long term. He also gets that it’s not realistic to expect me to just stop training to heal (which is what I actually need) until the season is over and he’s committed to helping me within the boundaries and challenges I set before him. I drive half an hour to see Kelly, because he’s worth it.
